It’s the day that Albertans will vote for those who they wish to see as mayor or councillor.
The Alberta municipal election is happening today (October 20), and many voting locations are open until 8 p.m., allowing people to cast their vote.
In Calgary, we talked to several people and asked what issues they are looking to get addressed during this election.
A man named Randy in downtown Calgary says he has several issues he is wanting addressed during this election.
Randy says there are two people running in this election that he feels will address those issues.
A woman named Brynn says the industry where she works has influenced how she votes.
Brynn says that no one in this election is standing out to her.
At the University of Calgary Campus, a young man named Arjn says he is looking for a politician that will stand up for the people.
Arjn adds that there isn’t anyone running for mayor that appeals to him.
Another person at the University of Calgary, Simon, explains what he is looking for in candidates during this municipal election.
Much like Arjn, Simon says there are no mayoral candidates that are standing out to him
For those who haven’t voted yet, but plan on it, check which voting location you are assigned to, as they are based off where people live.
Voting locations are most often in schools, churches, community halls, and other public buildings.
