The holiday season is a time for celebration with dinners, parties, and festive get-togethers filling the calendar. But with all that fun comes a serious reminder from MADD Canada: don’t drive impaired.
Every hour in Canada, nine people face charges or licence suspensions related to impaired driving. Proof that the message still needs to be heard.
From November 1 to January 5, MADD Canada’s Project Red Ribbon campaign returns, spreading awareness about sober driving.
We had a chance to speak with Tracy Franklin, MADD Canada Director for Alberta, Northwest Territories & Nunavut and longtime dedicated volunteer, more about this campaign:
You can display your red ribbon on your vehicle, keychain, purse, or backpack to show your support and help keep the message front and centre during one of the busiest times of year.
MADD Canada is asking everyone to do their part:
- Never drive impaired or ride with someone who is.
- Plan ahead if you’ll be drinking or using other substances. Get a cab, call a friend, or stay the night.
- Call 911 if you see someone you think may be driving impaired.
By working together and making smart choices, we can help prevent the heartbreak caused by impaired driving and make sure everyone gets home safely this holiday season.
