For the sixth year, the Chinook Blast Winter Festival will be taking over Calgary to help beat the winter blues.

New this year is the location, which will see the festival take place at Eau Claire Plaza.

Patti Pon, the Chair of the Chinook Blast Executive Committee and President and CEO for Calgary Arts Development, gives us a bit of a rundown on what to expect at the festival.

The festival will take place over three weekends, starting on January 30, and running until the Family Day Long Weekend.

According to Pon, there is plenty to check out each day of the festival.

There is no fee for people to come down and enjoy the festival.

The Mayor of Calgary, and self-proclaimed “Winter Wimp”, Jeromy Farkas, explains that this festival helps give people an excuse to get out in the wintertime.

Mayor Farkas adds that the new venue will help to facilitate having that village experience, as well as showcase artists and vendors.

On top of that, Mayor Farkas says there will be something for everyone at this event.

According to Mayor Farkas, Calgarians have lived through winter and learned how to make the season ours.
