The Calgary Roughnecks will be hosting an Indigenous Celebration this Friday (January 30), as they take on the Saskatchewan Rush at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

According to Boedy Shields, the Team Services and Community Relations Coordinator for the Calgary Roughnecks, there will be a number of things happening during the game.

The artist who designed the jersey is Jacob Alexis, who also designed the jersey for the Calgary Wranglers’ Indigenous Celebration game back in November.

Not only that, but the concourse will host Indigenous vendors, who will be selling their wares.

As part of the game, Shields says they have a special half-time show, and the ball kids at the game are special guests.

The Indigenous Celebration nights began as a league initiative, but the team took over the tradition themselves.

Shields says they anticipate this game will see one of their biggest crowds, as they expect to see around 13,000 people in attendance.

The game kicks off at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 30.
