Gleichen RCMP looking for information on deceased Siksika Nation resident found deceased in ditch

Gleichen RCMP are looking for information on man found deceased in ditch.

The Gleichen RCMP are investigating a single motor vehicle collisions that resulted in a fatality.

Shortly before 5 p.m. on April 5, Gleichen RCMP received a call over concerns for the well-being of a person observed in a rural ditch along Range Road 233, south of Township Road 232.

Gleichen RCMP attended the scene and located the male, who was confirmed to be deceased.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the male was travelling westbound on Township Road 232 when the crossed into a southern ditch, struck a culvert, and came to a stop in a field.

Evidence suggests the 66-year-old male is a resident of Siksika First Nation, and was attempting to walk from the scene of the single motor vehicle collision when he succumbed to his injuries.

The male did not possess a cell phone.

The investigation is still ongoing.

As a result, the Gleichen RCMP are asking anyone who may have seen a male walking in the area of Township Road 232 and Range Road 233 on April 5, from noon, to April 6 at 4:55 p.m. to contact the Gleichen RCMP at 403-734-3056.

The Gleichen RCMP extend their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
