The Farm Animal Rescue and Rehoming Movement is looking to its surrounding community to help build a new barn on new land acquired outside of Edmonton. FARRM is an organization that helps troubled farm animals find forever homes. They handle animals with a wide variety of different needs, behavioral issues, food issues, health issues and even social issues. The rescue is currently home to several different species of farm animals at the moment, a fact that can be troubling, as numbers of rescue-worthy animals continues to rise.
The rescue, currently situated out of Wetaskiwin, says they are operating with a full house of farm animals in need of some form of care. FARRM told CJWE in an interview that they had recently acquired more land for a second location, hoping to give relief not only to the current location, but to give northern Albertan farmers better access to animal rescue resources.
We got to speak with the founder of Farm Animal Rescue and re-homing, Melissa Martel, about the challenges with the new barn.
Melissa also shared about the types of animals under FARRM care.
CJWE asked Melissa about public access to the rescue and how else people can show support.
There are two main ways to donate, links can be found at the FARRM website here.
