There was a Bison Harvest on the Blood Tribe this week, which helped to teach youth how life used to be.

Tim Bruised Head from the Blood Tribe explains more.

Bruised Head has participated in 55 of these harvests, which youth have been invited to and participated in, and there will be another one on Monday morning.

According to Bruised Head, these are open to the public.

As part of the day, they killed a bison and taught youth how to skin and process the animal.

Which included teaching about the organs and removing the meat from the bones.

Bruised Head says they generally hand out the meat from the bison to the people in attendance, but he said he believes the meat from this specific bison would be turned into pemmican.

Two youth, Dawson and Piper, took part in the harvest.

Dawson adds what he learned.

They add that it is nice to learn about a different culture.

Bruised Head says that if people want to attend a Bison Harvest, keep an eye on social media and look for posters of upcoming ones.
