People will be able to learn about hide tanning through a residency at the Banff Centre.

Janine Windolph, Director of Indigenous Arts at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, explains more.

As part of this residency, people will likely work with a Buffalo hide, but Windolph says they sometimes use different animals.

Windolph adds that they try to centralize things to the mountains.

In past residencies, they taught about bone tools and used it as an exercise when they were de-fleshing the bison.

As part of this residency, people will participate in the whole process, washing, drying, stretching, and more.

Windolph adds that she urges everyone to apply for this residency, which is offered every two years.

The residency will take place from September 13 to October 3.
