The Calgary region has been experiencing below average rainfall, which has opened the doors for numerous fire bans and advisories.

Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, Alysa Pederson, states that we have to wait a bit for rain to arrive.

The last time we got moisture was back in April.

While it has been pretty dry this spring, Pederson says it is comparable to this time last year.

Typically, the region sees about 29 mm in April, but this year was less.

Pederson adds that we typically can expect more rain in May and June.

Due to the dry weather we have been experiencing, there have been numerous fire advisories and bans put in place, which can be found here.
