The annual Moose Hide Campaign Day will take place open May 14th this year, and is a BC-born, Indigenous-led grassroots movement aimed towards men and boys and the ending of violence towards women and children. First Nations, schools, levels of government and many organizations are all committed to ending this violence and taking action.
But if you’re in southern Alberta, how can you get involved?
For Moose Hide Campaign Day, businesses and school across southern Alberta will be handing out pins, as well as a few events taking place on Wednesday and Thursday.
In Nanton on Wednesday, you can visit the Nanton Visitors Information Centre, who will be hosting a walk to raise awareness on domestic violence starting at noon.
In Calgary, 17 different locations will be offering Moose Hide pins, offering a cheap, yet effective way for people to show their support for the cause. People can visit The Core downtown, Chinook Mall and Cross Iron Mills in order to get their pin.
Also in Calgary, The Confluence will be hosting a walk to stand up and speak out against violence towards women and children at their Moose Hide Campaign Walk, which starts at 9:30am on Wednesday, with the actual walk kicking off at 1pm.
Lastly, on May 15th, there will be a walk, community learning opportunity, and an Indigenous market experience that takes place at the Children’s Cottage in NW Calgary, kicking off at 2pm.
