June 21st will feature free admission at Studio Bell, as well as a free live event hosted by David McLeod, the curator behind the Speak Up! exhibit. The lineup includes Tudjaat, whose mid‑’90s work helped many young Inuit reconnect with their culture, plus Black Crow Funk, the country, folk and blues project led by Métis singer‑songwriter Jody Funk.

Rounding things out is techno/electronic artist sean beaver, known for high‑energy sets that blend pow wow elements, percussion, vocal chants, live loops, and his own original production.

The award‑winning Speak Up! exhibit highlights groundbreaking Indigenous artists who’ve shaped culture through their music. With storytelling, immersive audio, and personal artifacts, Speak Up! gives visitors a chance to see how these artists use their voices to spark conversations, inspire change, and share what it means to be First Nations, Métis, and Inuit in Canada. New additions for 2026 are on the way.

We spoke with Stephanie Hutchinson, Director of Programs with the NMC about the plans for the day.

Stephanie told us about the music we can expect on June 21st.
