Calgary will be hosting Playon! Canada on August 20-22, 2026 transforming 10 city blocks into 20 temporary street hockey rinks downtown.

The goal is to bring 300 teams together by hosting the largest street hockey event in Canada since 2017.

The Government of Canada, the Province of Alberta, and the City of Calgary provided funding to support Play On! 2026: One Nation.

The event is also being supported by Hockey Alberta, Hockey Calgary, the Canadian Ball Hockey Association, and Ball Hockey Alberta.

The first Play On! street hockey tournament was hosted in Halifax back in 2003. It has been recognized as “The Official Canadian Street Hockey Tournament” (NHL Network, TSN, CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet) and as a “National Phenomenon” (Atlantic Magazine).

A total of 182 Play On! events have been hosted in 43 Canadian communities, involving over 2 million participants, spectators, volunteers, and officials. Play On! holds the Guinness world record for largest street hockey tournament; over 42,000 players participated in its largest single (pre-COVID) season.
