Keep Your Four Legged Furry Friends Calm During Canada Day Fireworks

Canada Day is a great day to celebate our incredible country and all it offers us – so fireworks are totally a must!

While we love the big holiday fireworks for Canada Day, our four-legged family members usually don’t and are not fans.

Want to keep your pup calm during the fireworks display in your community tomorrow night? Here are some tips:

  • Start by bringing them inside to a cozy, interior room away from windows.
  • Turn on the TV or a white noise machine to drown out those loud bangs.
  • Distract them with a frozen, treat-stuffed toy that they can enjoy for an extended period of time.
  • Finally, make sure all doors are secure so they can’t bolt if they get spooked.
  •  Burn off energy beforehand. Take your dog on a long walk or have an intense play session earlier in the day. A physically tired dog is often less reactive to stress.
  • Act normal. Dogs often mirror their humans. Speak calmly and reassure them with gentle pets, but avoid making frantic or loud exclamations.
  • Natural remedies like homeopathic chews, CBD, or pheromone diffusers (e.g., Adaptil) can help ease mild to moderate anxiety.

Let’s keep our furry friends safe, happy and calm.

Happy Canada Day! Enjoy the day and have a ton of fun!
