The Town of Coalhurst will celebrate its mining heritage with its annual Miners Days celebration this weekend, featuring a full slate of family-friendly events, live entertainment, and community gatherings.
Mayor Deb Florence says the weekend is one of the biggest events on the town’s calendar each year.
“The Coalhurst Legion, Branch 273, hosts a parking lot party with live music and entertainment and it’s an awesome time,” she said. “The fire department has an open house on Friday night as well. Then on Saturday, we have a pancake breakfast, a well-attended parade, and our family festival.”
Friday, July 24
- 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. – Lethbridge Public Library Bookmobile Outdoor Escape Room at Imperial Meadows Park (613 Spruce Drive). Families are invited to take on an outdoor escape room challenge.
- 4:30 – 11 p.m. (Live music 7–11 p.m. with Don’t Tell Mama) – Parking Lot Party at the Coalhurst Legion (5205 6 Street). Enjoy drink specials, food for purchase, and live entertainment. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- 5 – 9 p.m. – Coalhurst Fire Department Open House (702 55 Ave). Tour the fire hall, check out the equipment and trucks, and enjoy a fundraising barbecue in support of the Coalhurst First Responders Society.
Saturday, July 25
- 8 – 10 a.m. – Coalhurst Town Council Pancake Breakfast at the Coalhurst Community Centre (527 50 Ave). Free event open to everyone.
- 10:30 a.m. – Annual Miners Days Parade. The parade stages along 55th Avenue and travels down 6th Street, 51st Avenue, and 2nd Street.
- 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Imperial Meadows Family Festival at 613 Spruce Drive. This all-ages event includes a mini petting zoo, bouncy castles, laser tag, a splash pad, giant slip ‘n slide, lawn games, face painting, airbrush and glitter tattoos, balloon artists, food trucks, and a beer garden hosted by The Last Post.
Miners Days offers something for all ages and serves as a highlight of Coalhurst’s summer calendar, bringing residents and visitors together to celebrate the town’s history and community spirit.
