The RCMP says an 18-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly stealing and selling cattle in southern Alberta. The Diamond Valley detachment received reports of cattle rustling, where five cows were stolen in Eden Valley.
They said the RCMP Livestock Investigation worked alongside Livestock Identification Services to find multiple suspicious cattle transactions.
According to a news release, investigators determined that person had already been to auction markets in Fort Macleod and Picture Butte to sell cattle, and even found documentation they believed to be fraudulent.
As a result, an 18-year-old man from southern Alberta is charged with two counts of theft cattle over $5,000, two counts of trafficking stolen property over $5,000 and three counts of uttering forged documents.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.
