According to a release, the Siksika Nation Emergency Services have announced fire restrictions for the area. The release also states the risk for fire is very high as the dry, windy and warm conditions continue in the area.
Due to the moisture content in the fine fuel, the Nation says they could upgrade this to a ban with little to no notice.
Wood campfires on public lands are not allowed, and fire permits are being restricted or suspended. Fireworks and exploding targets are always banned without written permission of a FIRE officer.
Barbecues, wood pellet contained smokers, propane/natural gas powered appliances, indoor wood fires, open flame oil devices, campfires inside designated campgrounds and wood campfire in backyard fire pits are all still allowed.
Siksika Nation says the restrictions will remain in place until further notice.
