A water quality advisory has been announced for the beach area at Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park today, after elevated bacteria levels were discovered by Alberta Health Services.
According to them, anyone who swims or wades into the water can expect skin, ear, or eye infections and gastrointestinal issues like vomiting and diarrhea, and that risk can extend to pets as well.
AHS also warns to never use untreated water for cooking or cleaning, even when the advisory is lifted.
The warning remains in place until further notice.
