The 2027 Calgary Stampede First Nation Princess Contest is ongoing and only has one more month for applications!

The First Nation Princess attends hundreds of community and Stampede events throughout the season, as ambassadors for the Calgary Stampede and Calgary’s western heritage.

The application has three steps and is open to all Treaty 7 members. The first section covers basic information, the second asks short-form questions, and the third section asks for uploaded media and a short self-introduction video.

Applicants must identify as female and be between 19 and 26 years old as of October 25, 2026. They must also have completed high school or hold an equivalent credential.

Candidates must be members of a Treaty 7 First Nation, including Kainai, Piikani, Siksika, Tsuut’ina or Iyarhe Nakoda. They must also commit to the full year‑long reign and promotion of Elbow River Camp and the Calgary Stampede.

A valid driver’s license is required, and applicants must be willing to undergo a background check. Those without a passport must be prepared to apply for one.

Each applicant must have a sponsor who is a current Tipi Holder residing within Elbow River Camp at the Calgary Stampede.

Application Requirements

  • Letter from the Nation confirming you are a member or image of Status Card.
  • A document (driver’s license, passport) that confirms your age.
  • A front-facing photo in full regalia.
  • Two personal reference letters (cannot be from immediate family).
  • Brief essay on why you would like to be the 2027 Calgary Stampede First Nations Princess.

Applications are open here and close on September 18th, at 4pm.
