“Write Over Here: Indigenous Futurism” is an Indigenous Residency program that offers Indigenous screenwriters the chance to work on adapting their written work for the big screen. Applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of career stage, and either individually or with a collaborator. That can include novelists, short story writers or playwrights.
The program is set to begin on February 1st 2027, and ends February 26th 2027. The deadline to apply however, is September 23rd of 2026.
This residency balances self directed writing sessions with scheduled workshops and events, and participants will be able to participate in faculty-led workshops, one-on-one sessions and team bonding experiences. It also includes an online preparatory week, guest-led workshops, and 24/7 access to a writing-focused studio space.
Applicants only need the following criteria to apply:
- Have written at least one script previously, or have an educational background in film and/or screenwriting.
- Be adapting a novel, short story, or play into a television series, feature film, or episodic work for a web platform.
Applicants must also be over 18 by the start date of the program.
