A female hiker has died after a fall from the Mount Yamnuska hiking and scrambling area August 19th, and was spotted after another trail user reported seeing her fall.

RCMP was called around 5pm, and Kananaskis Emergency Services, Alberta conservation officers, Alpine Helicopters, as well as Emergency Health Services responded, with EHS arriving at 6pm.

The death is not considered suspicious, and the investigation is ongoing. Police have not released the woman’s age, or any information about the fall.

This latest death is the fourth hiking-related incident reported in the Banff National Park and Kananaskis Country areas since June.

Mount Yamnuska sees around 43,000 hikers a year, and Alberta Parks lists the Yamnuska scramble route as a roughly 10 kilometres return.
