Primary Care Alberta is bringing its mobile mammography unit to Strathmore for several days this month and in early October.
The specialized trailer offers breast X-rays designed to catch potential signs of cancer at an early stage.
These screenings remain the most effective method for identifying breast cancer sooner, when treatment options tend to be more successful.
The unit will be stationed at the Strathmore Stampede Grounds, 33 Wheatland Trail, on the east side of the Remuda Building, September 25–26, plus October 1–3 and 5–6.
Services are open to eligible people between the ages of 45 and 74, the age range considered at highest risk for the disease.
Screening is provided at no cost to those who qualify, though appointments must be booked in advance.
