A 15-year-old male has been charged by Lethbridge police in relation to a sexual assault and multiple indecent acts directed at females along a local green strip.
On September 16, officers were called to the 1500 block of Lakeview Drive after a 41-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted while on the Coalbanks Trail.
According to investigators, the woman observed a young man concealed behind a garbage can. As she walked by, he directed a lewd remark at her. Police allege he then pursued her, carried out the assault, and left the scene.
A search of the area failed to locate him at the time, however inquiries linked the description to a young male connected with three earlier incidents of indecent acts in the same vicinity during mid-August.
Those events allegedly involved the individual performing an indecent act in the presence of girls walking along the green strip, among them an eight-year-old.
The youth was taken into custody in the same area on September 17. His identity remains protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He faces charges of sexual assault, indecent exposure, and four counts of committing an indecent act.
