Join the Inuit Albertamiut Association on November 7th for a day of celebration and welcoming spaces for this years International Inuit Day community celebration! This event will be taking place in Calgary, at the Alexandra Centre Society from 12pm to 3pm, and is for the Albertamiut.

The Inuit Albertamiut Association is a non-profit that supports Alberta Inuit members through various events that strengthen community and belonging, and there is no membership process.

Attendees can expect to try a variety of traditional foods, including caribou soup, mataaq, and fish quaq, alongside other food and refreshments. For the IAA, sharing traditional food unites the people, and makes them feel at home. According to the latest census, close to 3,000 Inuit were counted in Alberta.

You have to register to attend, and you can do that be emailing info@inuitalberta.ca, or calling/texting 780-909-5190, or scan the QR code on the poster.

CJWE got to speak with Hazel Harrison of the Inuit Albertamiut Association, and asked for more details about the traditional foods.

We asked Hazel about what a family could expect if they were attending.

Hazel talked about the effort that goes into the planning of the event.
