There are only four more days left for the Calgary Stampede meaning there are only four days left of pancake breakfasts.
Over the course of the Stampede, various organizations and communities host pancake breakfasts to engage with their neighbors.
On July 10, members of Tsuut’ina and surrounding neighborhoods came out to celebrate the shared western heritage of the Stampede.
This tradition is especially important to the staff and officers at the Tsuut’ina Police Service or Tosguna which translations to Black Soldiers in the Tsuu’tina language for the past 19 years have been hosting their own Stampede Breakfast at the station.
For Tsuut’ina resident Benedict Pipestem looks forward to the breakfast as it is a way to go out with his family.
Both he and his son Carlos are pancake enthusiasts as long they are accompanied with large quantities of syrup!
Each year the breakfast has grown in size with 2024 featuring a dunk tank with officers volunteering to be plunged into icy water and performances from local country artists Jr Kaquitts Band and George Canyon.
TPS use the breakfast to engage with residents through a survey to find ways how they can better serve the community.
TPS Chief Blake explains the importance of having officers engage with the community they serve.
For more information about complaints and compliments of the TPS can be found on their website.
