Roughly 900 people of Calgary’s Indigenous community came out for the first Powwow held in eight years at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s (SAIT) Main Campus.
The goal of the Powwow is to show that Indigenous culture flourishing at the Institute, empower the Indigenous students who are currently enrolled, and give students a break from studies as the winter semester comes closer to an end.
CJWE caught up with conversational Nakota host and Knowledge Keeper in residence at Natoysopoyiis (Holy Wind Lodge) Thomas Snow about the community of Treaty 7 coming together at SAIT.
