The 22 annual Siksika Health Fair was an enormous success as a thousand people gathered the Siksika Piiksapi Memorial Arbor to empower the next generation.
Each year Siksika Health Services chooses theme relating to challenges facing the community with 2024 having a focus on mental health and mental well-being.
The Health Fair approximately 400 students from grades 3-12, came to hear to special guest speakers former Humble Bronco Ryan Straschnitzki and UFC Hall of Famer Georges “Rush” St. Pierre.
Teacher at Chief Old Sun School Francine Bearhane shared how guests at the fair play an impact on the students.
Both speakers shared their stories of overcoming life’s challenges regardless how tough the battle maybe and spent time with the students in attendance.
St. Pierre explained how he wanted to use his life story to give hope to kids going through adversity.
Along with the special speakers, the students and parents in attendance had the opportunity to engage with local organizations to learn what supports are available.
