The Calgary Stampede have revealed their commemorative cowboy boots, which honors First Nations language and culture.
New this year, there are not one – but five versions of the commemorative boot.
Each is unique and handcrafted by master boot maker, Antonio Juarez and his gifted team of artisans.
This year’s collaboration was between the Calgary Stampede’s 2024 Poster Artist, Lloyd Templeton, and Alberta Boot Co.
Lloyd explains the collab came together with Stoney language and cultural instructor, Duane Mark, and 2024 First Nations Princess Margaret Holloway influenced the design of the boot.
Duane Mark shares the Stoney Nakoda phrase inscribed on the inner lining of each commemorative cowboy boot and how those who buy the boot can carry its meaning forward.
