To a sold-out weekend from April 19-21 the community of Medicine Hat and Cypress County gathered for the Medicine Hat Stampede.
The spring rodeo is the one of the most attended rodeos in the city which brings out the urban community to see pro-rodeo stars show their skills over in various categories.
The county has a large agricultural community and even in the middle of calving, they still showed up to the rodeo selling out the weekend.
General Manager of the Medicine Hat Rodeo Ron Edwards shares that while the rodeo is a professional event, it is still community driven.
The Stampede operates entirely on volunteers and a way they support the community was through the Medicine Hat Colts Jr. and Sr. Football team who were serving snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to help raise money for their program.
By being active in the community, it not only helps the team gain support, but Ryan Lamb of the Colts also explains it gives the members of the team a chance to pay it forward.
The Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede will be in full swing July 24-27 along with live a performance from Juno Award Alberta group James Baker Band.
