Medicine Hat College is set to host the National Day of Awareness for the Missing, Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirited people for Red Dress Day.
The event will include an Indigenous Prayer, a 1 km awareness walk and a guest speaker.
CJWE spoke with Chasity Cairns, manager of Indigenous Engagement and Indigenous supports at Medicine Hat College, as she says big thing that is needed is allies to be involved to show their support for families affected by losing loved ones and walking in solidarity.
Cairns speaks on this being their second annual event, and how the many Indigenous organizations from the community came together to make the event possible within Medicine Hat College.
Cairns highlights on what community members can expect in this years event, with guest speaker Janice Randhile also performing a honor song for the families that have been impacted.
Cairns adds that many families that have been impacted live in Medicine Hat, and providing paths for the families with supports needed through their times of loss.
