Over 1000 Medicine Hat residents were left without power this morning due to a “weather related” power outage.
The impacted neighborhoods were Crestwood, the South River Flats, Southeast Hill, Norwood, Connaught and Southridge.
The city of Lethbridge closed Sholten Hill at 6:05 a.m., to allow city crews time and space to repair some downed power lines.
At around 8 am, the city reported power was restored to affected areas with Sholton Hill remaining closed while crews continued to repair damage.
Shortly thereafter around 9:20 am city officials reported over 1,200 customers were once again without power because of “additional challenges”.
The city updated the power issue at 9:45 a.m. and said power should be restored over the next couple hours, as they have identified, and trouble shot the additional concerns.
Residents are reminded if they come across a downed power line the city of Medicine Hat are asked Remember to always remain at least 10 meters away from downed power lines and always give utility crews space to do their work.
