Cochrane RCMP are currently investigating an act of vandalism one of the Town’s iconic Men of Vision statue.
The statue which features a cowboy on a horse overlooking the town of Cochrane from the top of a hill in the Cochrane Ranche was found on May 4, with three of the horse’s legs damaged.
Commissioned around 1976 and 1977 it has been a symbol of the cowboy culture the town was founded and has had negative reaction on social media.
A post made by the Town of Cochrane informing the public about the statue being fenced off was meet with over 30 negative comments showing outrage to the vandalism.
The Town has fenced off the statue from the public and will be closing the Mitford Park parking lot from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. as an extra security measure while the stature awaits repairs.
