The 2024 Skills Canada Alberta is underway inside the Edmonton Expo Centre, where hundreds of competitors from across the province compete in various skills competitions like culinary arts and construction.
Windspeaker Radio Network spoke with Victoria Anderson, manager of Communications for Skills Canada Alberta, speaks on the 11 thousand students checking out the try-a-trades and seeing the 700 competitors in Skills Canada Alberta compete from high school and post-secondary representation.
Anderson speaks on what many can check out inside the Edmonton Expo Centre for Skills Canada Alberta, such as Culinary Arts and Hairstyling and welding.
Anderson adds that Skills Canada Alberta is an “Unparallel platform” for students to experience first hand at potential career paths they never seen before, such as a millwright and mechatronics engineer showcased in Skills Canada Alberta.
Anderson is hopeful that students take away that trades are a first option within post-secondary education, with many rewarding career opportunities and pathways to pursue.
